New entrants to the Organic Farming Scheme from 01.01.2016 who have not already completed the Organic Farming Course or potential entrants to the Organic Farming Scheme must attend a course to be eligible for payments under the Organic Farming Scheme. Such courses are available from NOTS (National Organic Training Skillnet) and Teagasc - details below.
NOTS Courses:
May 21st, 28th, June 11th, 18th - Ballykisteen Hotel, Limerick, Junction, Co Tipperary. 10 am to 5 pm (Saturdays)
July 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd - The Enterprise Centre, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim. 5.30 pm - 10.30 pm on Fridays. 8.30 am to 4.30 pm on Saturdays.

Teagasc Courses:
Below are the dates and venues for the Teagasc 25 Hour ‘Introduction to Organic Farming’ courses in 2016. Each course is run over 4 days and the cost is €220 per participant.
April 6,13,20,28 - Maldron Hotel Midway, Abbeyleix Road, Portlaoise, Co Laois. 10am – 5pm
May 11, 17,25 and June 1st - Teagasc Centre, Codrum, Macroom, Co Cork 10am -5pm
May 13, 20, June 3rd, 10th - Teagasc, Mellows Campus, Athenry, Co Galway 9.30am – 4.30pm
